The Health Insurance Marketplace (“Marketplace”) is a federally operated insurance marketplace (or exchange) where individuals and small businesses shop for and compare health coverage. Any individual or family may buy coverage in the Marketplace. For those who do not want to purchase in the Marketplace, coverage will continue to be sold outside of the Marketplace during open enrollment. Plans sold outside of the Marketplace may be purchased through a licensed agent or directly from a health carrier. However, the advanced premium tax credit (“APTC”) and cost-sharing reduction (“CSR”) benefit are only available to those who qualify and purchase a health plan in the Marketplace.
Because purchasing health insurance is one of the most important decisions you will ever make, determining which plan is best for you and your family requires a sound, independent assessment from a qualified professional. To decide which plan is best for you, it is important to consider whether you qualify for lower premiums, lower out-of-pocket costs, etc. Our office is here to help you through this process.
When people think of life insurance they typically think of term insurance: Paying a fixed premium on a monthly basis for a guarantee* from an insurance company to pay a fixed amount of money to one’s beneficiaries. While everyone should have life insurance, the industry has evolved and created cutting-edge and versatile products that not only provide a death benefit, but also accumulate cash value. Examples include whole life insurance, universal life insurance, and variable life insurance. Each type has its own unique characteristics and traits, but the goal for each is to provide your loved ones with a sense of financial security should you die prematurely and also accumulate as much cash value as possible for you to tap into on an income-tax-free basis. More and more people are buying cash value life insurance because of the tax efficiency it offers.*Guarantees are based solely on the financial strength and claim-paying ability of the issuing company and compliance with product requirements.
Long-term care (“LTC”) is the assistance needed when one either requires help performing an activity of daily living (e.g., bathing, dressing, eating, etc.) or has a severe cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer’s disease. Because Medicare does not pay for long-term care services, such as assisted living, and only pays for the first one hundred days of skilled care (i.e., physical therapy or nursing), it may be important to consider purchasing a LTC insurance policy. With the creation of new hybrid insurance products, something that was once viewed as too expensive may now actually be a very practical purchase for you. We can guide you through that decision-making process in determining what exactly is best for your individual case.
Other Health Insurance Products
A good health insurance plan is designed to offer the coverage you need to stay healthy and to get you healthy if you have a health issue or accident. But if you have a more serious health issue or accident, your coverage may have some limits and your expenses could be overwhelming. That is why it is important to consider additional health insurance products like Hospital Indemnity, Cancer Insurance and Home Health.
Hospital Indemnity helps to pay the hospital copays and expenses not covered by your plan. If your insurance coverage has high copays or deductibles, we recommend considering a hospital indemnity plan.
Cancer Insurance helps to pay expenses that may come in a battle with cancer. While your health insurance will pay some of the costs, a long battle with the disease can mean additional expenses. A cancer insurance policy can offer funds to take away some of your money worries so you can focus on getting well.
Home Health Insurance
Home health insurance allows you to recover and rehabilitate at home where you are most comfortable. You benefit from having skilled professionals can come to your home so that you get the care you need in the place you love.
